Riley is a doctoral student in German Literature and Culture. He has lived in various parts of northern Germany and spent a year studying at the University of Salzburg. After working in public health-related fields for a few years, he developed an interest in exploring the intersections of public health and science and religion, especially within Germany and Austria. His secondary interests include social networks in early twentieth-century Viennese Coffeehouse Culture and German American Religious immigrant communities.
