Erin Collins to represent the College of Liberal Arts as college marshal at December graduation

Erin will represent the College of Liberal Arts as the college marshal at commencement in December 2011. Erin is triple majoring in German, French and Francophone Studies, and International Studies, with minors in Middle East Studies and Arabic and a concurrent MA in German. While a student, Erin spent a semester studying at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, a semester at L’Université Paris – Sorbonne and a year at the American University of Cairo. She recently completed her honors thesis (under the direction of Dr. Martina Kolb) titled “Islamkunde in North Rhine-Westphalia:  A Source of Integration or Division?” Over the course of her time at Penn State she has received numerous awards and honors, including the Stanley R. Townsend Award for outstanding student in German, a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) German Studies Grant, and a Center for Arabic Studies Abroad Fellowship. She was also a member of the Women’s Rugby Team at Penn State, which won the Division I National Championship in 2010.
