Svetlana Myagkova is a Ph.D. student in German Literature and Visual Studies. She earned her MA and BA degrees from Moscow State Regional University and is a recipient of the Fulbright scholarship (FLTA 2023-24) as well as multiple grants from the Goethe-Institut. Before joining Penn State, she worked as a language instructor for English, German, and Russian at various educational institutions.

Her research lies at the intersection of contemporary German literature, visual studies, and memory studies. She explores authors with migratory background and analyzes what images, inserted or described, they use in their works and how these visual materials connect their family history to the collective history.
