Julia Goetze

German Language Coordinator

Assistant Teaching Professor

Dr. Goetze’s research focuses on applied linguistics and second language acquisition, where she investigates the psychology of teachers in the foreign language classroom. Her primary interests are teacher emotions and their relationship to cognitive processes, their beliefs and belief system formation, how their behaviors influence language teaching and learning, and the role of emotional intelligence in foreign language instruction.

Additionally, Dr. Goetze explores quantitative and qualitative research methods within complex and dynamic systems theory, in order to further investigate how the complex interrelationships between teachers’ and students’ individual differences and psychologies shape language teaching and learning across different educational contexts and settings.
