Russian majors and minors enjoy the advantage of a small program with lots of personal attention and individual contact with faculty. The department offers two degrees, the Bachelor of Arts in Russian and the Bachelor of Science in Russian Translation. The B.A. degree provides students with knowledge of the Russian language as well as a broad background in Russian literature, culture, and civilization. The B.S. degree provides students with a high degree of skill in translating from Russian to English. In addition, the department offers an interdisciplinary Minor in Russian, Minor in Russian Area Studies, and a Minor in Russian Translation. Many of our students combine Russian with another major. Students are encouraged to improve their language skills through contact with native Russian speakers and to participate in our education abroad programs.
