Kate currently resides in Kiel, Germany, as a fellow at Christian-Albrechts-Universität. She is writing her dissertation on literature written in German by multilingual authors of divers background. Further research interests include the German Romantic, Utopia, and what has been generally termed Migrant Literature.
She holds a Masters Degree in German Language, Literature and Culture from Colorado State University, and wrote her thesis on optimism in poetry of the GDR. She has taught courses in German Language and World Literature at Colorado State as a graduate student and as an instructor, and at Penn State as a graduate student these past eight years. Before beginning her PhD at Penn State, she also worked with Global Accent as a translator, editor, project manager and assistant.
In what little free time remains, Katherine can be found traveling, learning Platt, making music, climbing or dancing!
