Jake VanderKolk graduated from Michigan State University in 2004 with B.A.s in Philosophy and German, and has specific interests in early 20th Century literature and aesthetic theory. He is currently working on his dissertation Reading in Time: Provocations of the Reader in Early 20th Century German Stream-of-Consciousness Narrative, which deals with historical developments of the inner monologue technique in works by Arthur Schnitzler, Alfred Döblin, and Hermann Broch.
